My Creative Space - A Confession

CONFESSION:
Hello, my name is Trudi and I am not a cat lover.
I don't hate them ... I just don't really care for them either.

Knowing this ... why then are cats in pursuit of me?

EVIDENCE:
1. The next door flat has a cat that sits at the flywire door 24/7 and leers at me.

2. A random stray often comes to my door moaning meowing.
3. And when I visit friends with cats they are all over me.

It is like cats know and they are trying to change my mind (or mess with my head).

And now they are invading my sewing life... a friend asked me to make a softie for her to give as a present to a cat loving child. Aahhhh!!!

So, I used the Softies book and made this little one.

I changed the eyes from the ones in the pattern.

Now this cat is one I think I can learn to love...

  4. I've never liked cats in general either, but they have alsways managed to squeeze into my life (the lovely adopted cat I had as a child, the next door neighbours 3 legged cat that spent more time at our place than next door). Love the cat softie though!

  5. cats know when people don't like them and therefore drive them nuts.
Your cat toy is sweet, you wouldn't know it comes from a noncat person xo

  6. Cats *know* who doesn't like them! I think it's a body language/ eye contact thing: they are more attracted to people who aren't looking directly at them. Or something. (This is my theory anyway!) Love your squishy cat.

Teehee. My captcha word is 'deduffe' as in 'up deduffe'!

  7. I don't love cats either but apparently they can fight possums (and win). That part I like. (I woke to find the vegie patch razed this morning - not happy).

  9. I swear, cats are EVIL. I'm allergic and the absolutely make a bee-line for me. Little buggers.

Meanwhile, your cat is cute... I'm particularly partial to any cat that can't move, talk or shed hair.

  10. Cats just know….. My grandfather hated cats, the 6 children won the fight though and one was allowed to join the family. It took up residence on my Grandfather lap every evening! I’m not a cat fan either, but that little softie has charm.

  17. I have a cat, who I love, but I am far from being a cat person. You will not find cat calenders in my house or cat magnets on my fridge. But did you know that cats are attracted to people who make close actions, not large ones? Someone who puts their arms out wide for a cat will scare it off. While someone who has their arms crossed firmly across their chest and who is ignoring said cat will attract the cats attention as they are non threatening. Perhaps that is part of the reason they love you so? :)

  20. Classic. Very cute cat you created there. My husband is allergic to them - puffy ichy red eyes - it's kind of amusing.

  24. In my many years of experience with cats, I have learned that they ALWAYS seek out the people who like them least. Dogs often seem to do this too, and I think that's because they want to win you over. Cats, though, I am pretty sure are just messing with you. ;) Cute little kitten you've made there!

  31. That is one cute cat softie! I'm more of a dog person, cats seem so weird and aloof to me.

  32. I must admit I'm a bit of a cat person, and have 2 that live here (though they drive me nuts more often than not!). Apparently if you squint your eyes at them, it's a sign of affection and an invitation for a cuddle, so if you look at them with big wide eyes they might not come near you!!

Your cat softie is very cute, and will definitely be much loved by a little cat lover!

  33. Gorgeous little cat you've made for a cat-loving child, Trudi and a great colour. (Won't need to be washed every other day). I'm sure it will have years of cuddles and love.

  34. I am with you on this one - I am not a cat hater - just dont love them - but everytime I used to visit a friend hers would come and show me some love - she got great joy in it (knowing that I am not a cat person) and would always move her away only to have her back on my lap in minutes.

You little parcel arrived the other day - sorry for being so slack - will blog about it in the next few days (have been flat out since Easter)
